Did you know that the IELTS test fee has increased from 17k to 18k for all categories, such as general, academic, and UKVI?
This new test fee will be effective from March 2025 in India. Increasing the fee from 17k to 18k is a jump that most test takers will find unpleasant, especially the students who have to take IELTS multiple times, as a handful of them fail the reading part.
IELTS General, however, will not face that heat, as these test takers are working professionals who appear for this exam and have a steady source of income.
The market is getting more competitive with each passing day, and the entry of tests like Duolingo, TOEFL iBT, and PTE vouchers gives some sort of rebate on these tests to the students. Contrary to which, IELTS does not have any vouchers or promotional coupon codes to get a discount on the fee that the agency charges, which is stringent and fixed.
Now it will be interesting to see its impact on the market share and the test takers that IELTS have.
