- The Pearson Test of English is a test with no human examiner to check your test. It is an artificial intelligence test where a computer gives you an AI score. It attracts its own merits and demerits.
- The test consists of 20 different types of questions that you must solve in two hours.
- The test will have dedicated test centers, also called the Pearson test center, where a test taker will have to go for the test. There is also a home-based edition in which you can give your test at home, but again, that is not very popular in India.
- PTE tests can be of two different types: core and academic. Aspirants who want to go to Canada and file their permanent residence will have to appear for the core exam.
- PTE academics, however, can be used to file a visa application for Australia, especially for Permanent Residence. In addition, PTE academics can also be used as an English proficiency test to study abroad in native English-speaking countries like Canada, Australia, Ireland, New Zealand, the United Kingdom, and the States.
- The total marks in PTE are 360, and when you divide it by 4, you get your desired score. This means each module carries 90 marks (reading, writing, listening and speaking)
- There is also a categorization called UKVI Used for global university applications, various Australian and New Zealand visa applications (e.g., immigration or work visas), and UK work or student visa applications.
- Speaking will have five different types of questions.
- In writing there are two question types, in reading there are five, and in listening there are eight different questions that need to be solved during the test.
- The only difference in the “PTE CORE” is that “RETELL LECTURE” is replaced with “RESPOND TO A SITUATION” in the speaking section and “ESSAY” with “WRITE EMAIL” in the writing module.
- PTE is an exam of collocation and fifteen important words, One who wants to pass the test should have the list of collocations that is officially published by the publisher “Pearson” and should memorize it to get maximum correct answers in reading—fill in the blanks (both types)
- “FIFTEEN IMPORTANT WORDS” are used in questions like “RETELL LECTURE,” “SUMMARIZE SPOKEN TEXT,” and “WRITE FROM DICTATION.”. Each word is designated to carry one mark, and a test taker should at least write fifteen important words to get a full score in the question types.
- When you take the test, you need to carry your passport only. The marker to write and a special type of writing pad will be given on the test day in the center.
- The fee for booking the test in India is INR 17000 on the 3rd of Nov 2024.
- The test results are declared in two working days. You can also expect your results on the day of your examination in the evening after the test. It’s one of the fastest tests available these days.
- If you are not happy with the test scores and feel that your test should be reevaluated, you can do so by opening the Pearson portal by entering your login credentials and making a request. Of course, it will carry a charge, but it is wise or logical to take the exam again as the test scores do not change, unlike the IELTS. A computer is a machine that evaluates you again and does not tend to change the scores as its algorithm is the same in the next evaluation also. The marking permutation and combination remain unchanged.
