When we talk about passing the IELTS test, it is of utmost importance that a test giver chooses whether to give a computer-delivered test or a pen-and-paper one. Below are certain markers that can help in the test selection.
This is my personal experience if you have any disagreements please approach me on +918742928705. CEC is one of the top IELTS and PTE academies in Faridabad.

1. If your handwriting is creepy and you know that people have difficulty in comprehension, please do appear for the computer-delivered test.
2. If you want quick test results like you have a deadline for visa filing, go for a computer-based test, as you can get your results in just two days.
3. Both pen and paper and computer-delivered have their own merits and demerits. When it comes to writing modules, it is often observed that computers are machines and are strict in marking the writing be it the general or academic test. On the other hand, the chances of getting a writing score in pen and paper are bright, like above 6.5. The errors sometimes go unnoticed in pen and paper by the assessor.
4. In the reading and listening module, it happens that an error of a small hyphen may get you the wrong answer, like “part-time” is correct, and “part-time” without a hyphen is an error in a computer-based test. Contrary to this it will be marked correct in pen and paper based by an examiner.
5. It saves time as all four modules will be on the same day, unlike pen and paper, where speaking day is a day prior or later.
6. You can take a retake of any module within a month in computer-delivered, but not in case of pen and paper (if you fail in any of the modules)
7. Wider availability of test centers in case of computer-delivered. However, the pen and paper exam is mostly on Saturday, that is, four times a month.
8. People who are familiar with the computer keys or who feel their typing skills are slow should always prefer pen and paper.
9. In the paper-based, you can mark the keywords with the help of a pencil, especially in reading and listening. Moreover, one can easily flip the pages.
10. A “Control F” key on the keyboard can help you search for the keywords in the case of a computer-delivered test. Hence saves time. But in pen and paper, you will have to look for keywords by scanning the paragraphs.
To reiterate, I would like to say that both modes of examination will have their merits and demerits. If you want more personalized advice, visit one of the top IELTS institutes in Faridabad, which is Cognitive English Classes.
